Experienced LOTRO Players Needed!

Good day my fellow LOTRO players! I hope the day for you is just as sunny as it is for me here in the south of England.

I am writing this article in hopes of finding some experienced LOTRO players who would like to be interviewed for The Evernight Report. I would like to delve into the minds of our best players to discover what enthrals them, why they continue to play for so many years and which is their favourite part of the game.

Is it the pirate outfits? It is, isn't it?
All applications welcome, though there are limited spaces available. Apply in the comments or message the page.

Help Hannihr get her Law Degree!

My dear People,

Some of you may know that I work within the legal industry by day, and by night I am an administrator of the Evernight facebook group, creator of LOTRO is Beautiful and director at Hannihr.

I would like to make the world a better place. Let's have more of the Shire, and less of Mordor. To quote Lady Galadriel, "Even the smallest person can change the course of the future". Standing at 5ft 3, I would rather happily agree with her.

This is why I am humbly asking for donations, so that I may fund my law degree to become a kick ass human rights lawyer. If you are able to, click here to donate! The smallest amount would be sincerely appreciated, and each person who donates will have their name immortalised on my dissertation.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. :)

The Evernight Report Just Hit 10,000 views!

Woah! Thank you ALL who have read my rambling articles over the past 2 and a half years! It's wonderful to see that Evernight has a strong readership and interest beyond logging into the game.

With this newspaper, I have had such a wonderful opportunity to meet players from all over the world. I cannot thank you all enough!

To celebrate this wonderful milestone, I would like to welcome you to a new facebook page! It is called LOTRO is Beautiful and can be accessed by clicking here! As I write this, we have 46 members in less than 48 hours! That's one per hour! :D

Thank you, my friends.

[Round Two] The Evernight Facebook Group's Big LOTRO Quiz 2016!

A few nights had passed since the first round of Evernight's Big LOTRO Quiz 2016. Hobbits had since eaten eight times their bodyweight, Dwarves had hollowed a fair few barrels of ale, Men and Women had made many a trip to the hunting lodge to have their meats smoked and salted. Of course, time did not affect Elves, and so nothing had changed for them and they continued glamorously sulking about. The Beornings, however, had used every Tailor in the land to mend their torn clothing after each transition from man to bear.

There was a quiet calm in the air. A quiet calm, that is, until Hannihr approached the Bree Town Stage.

"My dear People!" Hannihr announced, as she reached centre stage. "Thank you for your patience! It has been too long since Round One. To show my thanks, I have increased the winnings. An extra 100 gold coins are now in the pot! Good things come to those who wait. But remember, not all that glitters is gold!"

"The winnings for the Big LOTRO Quiz 2016 are as follows: 200 gold coins, level and class appropriate armour, a commemorative cloak, an almost infinite amount of ales, wines and beers, as well as an interview with yourself featured in Evernight's occasionally daily newspaper, The Evernight Report!" Hannihr took a hefty swig of her drink before continuing.

"Round two is dedicatedly solely to LITERATURE BY TOLKIEN AND TOLKIEN SCHOLARS*. This round will be particularly difficult, so do your best!"

*Tolkien Scholars refer to writers who are knowledgeable in Tolkien literature (published essays, critical literature, translations and commentary).

"Let Round Two begin! Good luck!"

First Round Video: Evernight Facebook Group's Big LOTRO Quiz 2016!

[Round One] The Evernight Facebook Group's Big LOTRO Quiz 2016!

Barliman Butterbur is cleaning a few ale cups, humming a tune as old as the hills of Bree Land. He has seen you and other members of Evernight in and out of the pub for many moons now, and pours you a Barliman's Best (The Prancing Pony's finest, and that's saying a lot).

"Welcome, weary travellers! Take up armchairs, rest on rugs and gather round tables by the fire just down the other side of the room there, right by that elf lass in the white dress. Your adventures have taken you far, and to celebrate such a wonderful day as Mister Tolkien's birthday, Hannihr'll be hosting a quiz!"

Barliman gestures to the north wall, and passes out cheese, meat, bread and fruit to you and your friends as you pass. The smell of roasted lamb and smoked pork greets you as you sit by the stone and mahogany fire place.

The chill of the winter outside is long forgotten, as your toast your toes near the hearth. The room is warm, welcoming, and is lost in a time of party and pleasure. A Rohirrim man stands to the left of the fire, dressed comfortably and playing a cheerful tune on his lute.

Hannihr the elf Guardian approaches the fire, drinks the contents of her ale in one, and burps slightly.

"Mae Govannen my dear People! Today is Tolkien's one hundredth and twenty fourth birthday: he is twelthy-fourth today! I hope you are all enjoying yourselves as much as I am *hic*.

I shall not keep you long, I have called you all together for a Purpose.

Indeed, for Three Purposes! First of all, to tell you that I am immensely fond of you all, and that 5 months of in game time is too short a time to play among such excellent and admirable players.

Secondly, to celebrate Professor Tolkien's birthday. Together we score one thousand, three hundred and forty-three.

Thirdly and finally, I wish to make an ANNOUNCEMENT. I am happy to announce that the quiz may now begin! May the best Hobbit, Elf, Man, Dwarf or Beorning win!"

Hannihr took out a tattered scroll. It had been well used, and as she opened it for inspection, runes formed out of light and rose to the ceiling where the spiders were keeping warm.

All in the Prancing Pony listened carefully, and gently placed down their cups.

"Each round has nine questions. This round, Round One, is dedicated to the FILMS in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, good luck!

Round One

Question One
When Denethor asks Pippin to sing for him, which member of the cast for the film created the melody for the song "Mist and Shadows"?

Question Two
Who composed the music for the Lord of the Rings trilogy?

Question Three
Which prop was Orlando Bloom given on the last day of shooting as a gift?

Question Four
Whose helmet shows the runes that state "Lammen Gorthaur"?

Question Five
Fans of the LOTR films noticed an attractive looking elf, who was thus named "Figwit" (Frodo Is Great... Who Is That?!), who played Figwit?

Question Six
What is the name of the song that Annie Lennox sings at the end of the Return of the King?

Question Seven
Which member of the cast said this? "When I first read 'Lord of the Rings,' I wanted to see a film of it. But at that time, the technology wasn't there; there was no such thing as CGI"

Question Eight
How many strands of hair did Galadriel give Gimli? (for an extra point: who originally wanted a strand of Galadriel's hair many years before Gimili met Galadriel?)

Question Nine
Which member of the cast was so afraid of helicopters that they decided to walk up a mountain for 2 hours for shooting the film, instead of flying?

That is the end of Round One. Round Two is coming shortly!
